Yes. We are intentional about how many families we take on so every relationship gets the attention it deserves. If we ever reach capacity, we'll tell you directly instead of stretching ourselves thin and discuss a reasonable timeline for us to start working together.
Our integrated planning is generally suited to families with $5M or more in investable assets, and the complexity we're built for usually shows up well beyond that. That said, the minimum is a guideline rather than a gate — if your situation fits the work we do, we will absolutely still have the conversation.
Plenty of capable people manage their own investments, and if that's all you need, we may not be the right fit. The real question is whether anyone is coordinating the whole picture — tax timing, estate alignment, concentrated position risk, insurance gaps, and the decisions that interact with each other. At a certain level of complexity, the cost in money and time of those uncoordinated pieces justifies the fee.
Yes, and we encourage it. Coordinating across a family is often where the most important planning happens: wealth transfer, preparing the next generation, and making sure a spouse or heir isn't left reconstructing a financial life alone. We're glad to bring family members into the conversation whenever it serves the plan.
Generally, we do not. While we can work well with others, we believe clients receive the best outcomes when there is one Advisor, coordinating one team, that is accountable for managing an integrated plan. Having two advisors can be like having two doctors who only see part of your medical information and thus give contradictory diagnoses.
Whichever you prefer. We're based in Dallas–Fort Worth and enjoy meeting in person, but much of the relationship works well virtually — and we serve families outside DFW entirely that way.
Yes, we can work with the professionals you already trust. Our role is simply to act as the hub that gets everyone working from the same plan. We can coordinate with them directly rather than everything having to flow through you. If you don't have a trusted CPA, attorney, or insurance agent, we can also connect you with professionals we've worked with and trust.
We handle the paperwork and coordinate directly with your current custodians. Transfers are typically made in kind, meaning your investments move as they are rather than being sold, so we can manage any tax consequences deliberately. Before we initiate any transfers, we give you an opportunity to inform your current advisor (if applicable) the way you want instead of them just receiving the transfer request.
A secure client portal that consolidates your full financial picture in one place — accessible on desktop and mobile.
No. You built this wealth to use and enjoy — our job isn't to moralize about your spending. It's to make sure the plan supports the life you actually want, so you can spend with confidence knowing the whole picture is handled. If something genuinely threatens your independence, we'll tell you plainly, but that's a math conversation, not a lecture.
They are integrated, because separating them is what creates the problems we're built to solve. Investment management without coordinated planning is just a portfolio; planning without implementation is just a document. We bring investments, tax, estate, and risk into one plan so the pieces work together instead of against each other.
In most cases yes, because a great deal of the value we add — tax-loss harvesting, asset location, withdrawal sequencing, concentrated position management — requires actually managing the accounts. That said, if your wealth is tied up in a business, real estate portfolio, oil & gas interests, or other illiquid assets and genuinely calls for planning-only work, we'll tell you and determine the best structure for your unique situation.
We start from your financial plan — your tax situation, liquidity needs, concentrated positions, business or real estate exposure, and goals. The portfolio is evidence-based and rules-driven, built for after-tax outcomes, and managed in the context of everything else in your financial life.
Routine work within your agreed strategy — rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, cash management — we handle without interrupting you, which is the point of hiring us. Anything that changes your strategy, risk level, or tax picture gets discussed with you. You'll always understand what we're doing and why.
It begins with discovery — mapping every account, entity, advisor, and decision on your horizon. From there we model what financial independence looks like for you, then design a prioritized strategy across investments, tax, estate, and risk. You'll understand every recommendation and why it's there; if something doesn't make sense, we explain it differently until it does.
Most clients have an initial integrated strategy within the first several weeks, with implementation phased over roughly three to six months at a pace that fits your complexity and comfort level. Complex situations — multiple entities, a pending sale, intricate estate work — take longer by design, because doing it right matters more than doing it fast.
Tax preparation is available through our CPA firm partner, working alongside us rather than at arm's length. We don't draft legal documents — that's your attorney's role — but we coordinate directly with them on structure, titling, and beneficiary alignment so your documents and your plan actually agree.
Yes. We're glad to work alongside professionals you value and trust, acting as the hub that coordinates everyone. Either way, nothing falls through the gaps between advisors.
Yes. We've built relationships across Dallas–Fort Worth with accountants and attorneys we trust, and we'll introduce you to the right specialist for your situation — then coordinate directly with them as part of your team.
Multi-year tax projections, equity compensation and business transition strategy, Roth conversion and charitable timing, asset location and tax-loss harvesting, entity planning, and gifting and estate tax strategy — all coordinated with our CPA firm partner or your own CPA, so the tax is planned before decisions are made rather than discovered afterward.
Yes, through our custodian and platform partners — securities-based lines of credit, mortgage and reduced margin rates.
No. There's no long-term contract and no surrender period. You can end the relationship at any time with written notice, and you'll only owe fees for the period we actually served you.
Fees are billed quarterly and are typically debited directly from your investment accounts at the custodian, so there's no need for you to write a check.
Our schedule is published and applied consistently — clients in similar circumstances pay the same thing.
Depending on the engagement, an asset-based advisory fee, a flat planning fee, or a combination — disclosed in writing before you commit to anything. Separately, you'll pay third-party costs we don't receive: investment related portfolio expenses and any custodian transaction fees.
Never. We're fee-only, which means our only compensation comes from our clients — no commissions, no product sales, no referral fees from the CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals, or lenders we introduce you to. It's the structural reason our advice can stay accountable to you alone.
We can work hand in hand with our dedicated CPA firm partners rather than referring you out. We handle tax optimization woven into your investment and wealth decisions — asset location, tax-loss harvesting and gain management, Roth conversion timing, retirement distribution and income planning, charitable, gifting and concentrated stock strategies, and estate projections. Our CPA partners handle the compliance and planning at expert depth — returns and filings, corporate and pass-through entity strategy, entity selection and restructuring, historical accounting, audit support and IRS representation, and gift and estate tax calculations. If you already have a CPA you value, we coordinate with them the same way.
Yes. We partner with an established asset management platform for the infrastructure behind your plan: institutional investment access and pricing, back-office and trading support, technology, reporting and compliance scale, institutional custodian pricing advantages including lending, and specialty offerings such as mergers and acquisitions support, private banking, and lifestyle services. That gives you large-firm access with boutique-firm speed and service — and lets us spend our time on advice and the relationship rather than on operations.
Your accounts are held at a large, independent national custodian — Charles Schwab. The custodian holds your assets, processes trades, produces your statements and tax forms, and gives you direct online access. We are granted limited authority to manage and trade within your accounts and to have our fee debited, never to take possession of your money. That separation of duties means the firm advising you is not the firm holding your assets, and you can always verify independently what we report.
Never. We are fee-only, so our only compensation comes from our clients. We accept no referral fees, commissions, or revenue sharing from any partner or professional we introduce you to. It is the structural reason our recommendations can stay accountable to you alone.
Broadly there are four. Brokers, who are paid commissions to sell investment products. Insurance-based advisors, paid commissions on policies. Hybrid or dually registered advisors, who charge fees sometimes and earn commissions other times, depending on the transaction. And fee-only registered investment advisors, paid solely by clients and held to a fiduciary standard at all times. We are structured as a fee-only fiduciary. We sit on the same side of the table as you and our recommendations are based on what’s in your best interest.
A fiduciary is legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times — not merely to recommend something "suitable." The distinction matters because much of the industry operates under the lower bar, where a more expensive product can be recommended over a better one as long as it's defensible. As fee-only fiduciaries, we have no products to push and no commissions to chase.
Yes — we are fiduciaries.
Are you a fiduciary, and will you put it in writing? How exactly are you compensated, and do you ever earn commissions? Do you coordinate directly with my CPA and attorney? How do you make sure all parts of my financial life are integrated into one plan? The answers separate coordinated advice from a sales relationship quickly.
We're independent and fee-only, with no proprietary products, no sales quotas, and no outside capital shaping our advice. We can also coordinate the tax, estate, and business side of your life in a way a large institution's siloed structure rarely allows.
Firms built around insurance products earn commissions when you buy those products, which inevitably colors the advice. We don't sell products or earn commissions of any kind. When insurance genuinely belongs in your plan — and often it does — we'll say so and help you shop it, but we have no financial interest in that recommendation.
Those firms are excellent, low-cost custodians. What they're built for is serving a broad market at scale, not coordinating a complex financial life. We provide the proactive, integrated planning across tax, estate, equity compensation, and investments, plus a dedicated team that knows your situation, which a call-center or self-service model isn't designed to deliver.
We use a multi-layered technology security stack to protect sensitive client financial and personal data, comply with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and we vet the security practices of every technology vendor we use.
